Wedding Playlist Part 2 {First Dance}

Ah...the first dance. It will be the first time you will dance as a newly married couple. Hand to hand, cheek to cheek... this moment will probably be the only moment, aside from saying 'I do' you will both share that will solidify, YOU ARE MARRIED!

So what's in a song? If you have a song that you both love and best represents the love you share, then by all means use it! For those who don't or maybe never thought about it until now, don't worry - there are plenty of songs out there that you and your fiance can relate to. If you have to think of any song for this night, make it this one. It is the 'soundtrack' to your marriage.

First off, when you choose a song... make sure you want it for all the right reasons. Not because it is a popular song. You should fall in love with it like you fell in love with your soon to-be husband or wife. If it's a song that is unconventional, then use it! It's your song, there is no right or wrong.

My first dance song can be viewed as unconventional, The Rolling Stones - Wild Horses. This song chose us, it was the first song we both danced to long before we fell in love. Through our courtship we referred that song as ours, naturally is it was our first dance and still is our song. I don't think I have met anyone else with the same song.

Remember, as much as you would love to dance through the entire length of the song - your guests won't. Save the whole 4-5 minutes for the privacy of your own home. Instead, keep it under 3 minutes tops and have your DJ slowly fade out so it's not an abrupt stop.

Songs To Fall In Love With - Wedding Playlist Pt. 1

This new year I have decided to blog about the numerous things that went through my mind while I was researching for my own wedding last year {I researched about a whole year mind you} So to kick it off nice and easy, I am going to post my FAVE wedding songs... in multiples of 10 per post (to avoid overload) and snippet links for your listening pleasure.

So visit often and check out the latest of songs to add on your list! Since I love all types of music, my tastes will have a little for everyone. I will also keep an ear out for the next 'big thing' and I will keep you posted.

If you like to help contribute, please email me your list of faves at aculturedevent@gmail.com {Thank You}

{The first 10 is my favorites from my wedding, Enjoy!}

{My hubby chose this song to start the ceremony with. He says it was when he first heard this song it was when he realized he loved me. The lyrics are sweet and the video is cute. Maybe not exactly the 'perfect' song for a wedding, but great to add to the mixed tape =)}

{Although you cannot replace The King's version, Michaelson's version is just a softer feminine version that I just fell in love with. I used this song as my Bridal Walk... as many time I listened to it (to prevent myself from falling apart the day of) it til this day gets me choked up.}

{I am a huge Rilo Kiley/Jenny Lewis fan and this is one of my fave songs. Such a cute song}

{Love this song. Love this artist. Just listen and you will too...}

{This song is just perfect. It would be a nice first dance song to those who don't have a song of their own or just to have in the wedding mix like we did. I heard it first while watching a random show and they had a little snippet!}

{An oldie but goodie! Back in the 90's she was one of my fave R&B singers, I love her songs and also this song is among honorable mention 'Still'}

{One of my fave Norah Jones numbers. I think this is a beautiful slow song to add to your list}

{A fun uplifting song! You can't go wrong placing this song in the mix.}

{I love Joss Stones raw raspy voice and this song just really human emotions put into lyrics. This song meant a lot to me when my husband and I were dating and we had a fight, the song came on and I cried of course - listen and you can relate.}

{Anothor oldie but goodie. This song is a great song to slow dance song with your new husband or wife.}

And there you have it! The first of many Wedding Playlist installments. I hope it helps! Remember, you don't have to choose ALL of your music - if your DJ is a professional he/she should know all the wedding songs to play. It is however a nice touch to personalize your own wedding with a few songs that have meaning to the both of you.

Live, Laugh, Love
